Pandemic Supports
The pandemic changed the way we looked at instructional technology. As a technology coach, I strived to help the administration, teachers, parents, and most importantly, students in my district. Some of those measures are listed below:
Built and taught teachers how to populate content to Alternate Instruction Site prior to initial shutdown.
Developed and distributed initial shut down professional development remotely to get teachers and students ready for the upcoming weeks of uncertainty.
Participated in weekly phone conferences with administration to brainstorm ways of tracking student attendance and teacher professional development.
Sent weekly microlearning emails with information in small chunks to teachers focusing on the next thing in front of them.
Created one page documents and screencasts for instructional technology tools being offered for free to districts.
Assessed a variety of tools (LMS, video conferencing, etc.) for the 2020-21 school year, and provided updates to administration and teachers on recommendation.
Organized enrollment into online course for navigating and building Schoology courses for the 2020-21 school year.
Provided teachers with 1 to 1, personalized tutoring sessions via Zoom.
Organized cohorts and trained cohort leaders in simultaneous teaching with Zoom, interactive whiteboards, and document cameras.
Provided account support to parents and students via email and phone.
Designed an activity for teachers to reflect on their practice at the end of the 2020-21 school year to determine what tools and techniques were worth keeping.
Created a survey to determine what premium programs would be the best purchases for the district.
Accolades
I once had a mentor who told me to keep a "smiles" folder with positive comments so I could visit them on bad days. I believe the best way to demonstrate positive relationships is to quote some of the communications I've stored in my "smiles" folder:
"I know you all have been getting lots of push back, complaints, etc from lots of parents lately. I wanted to take the time to commend the efforts of Stacie Isenberg and Ron ____. I wasn’t expecting perfection by any means for today but I was hoping for good tech support. They have both been fantastic! I had issues for both of my kids during the past few days that were quickly addressed. The Freeport community Facebook pages had a lot of parents reporting problems and asking questions today. I have been sending folks to Ron and Stacie. Lots of the parents have been impressed and very thankful about how quickly and efficiently they have been helped. Please make sure that Ron and Stacie are rewarded for their awesome work!" - Anna L. (parent)
"As I’m sure you could tell, I’m a big advocate for technology, so thank you for everything you do for the district and the classes within it to help them advance as technology does. It’s an essential tool for modern day learning, but it can be very difficult using and teaching it. So getting classes used to projects like the hyperdoc is super important and you do a great job doing so!" - Christian W. (student)
"On another note, I would like to thank you for all of your hard-work, support, guidance, and gentle nudging at times with my staff. I believe I have a few educational technology leaders in my building, and the support you have provided can be clearly seen in what they produce and are willing to try. I would love to have SB lead the way in embracing and effectively utilizing the technology available to us, and I truly appreciate all of your help in this regard. You are a huge asset to the District, and my school, and I wanted to let you know how much you are appreciated! " - Mr. Lesko (administrator)
"I'm sure you've heard this from others, but I just had to share my appreciation for Stacie and all that she does. I took her up on her offer for some private "Schoology tutoring", and boy does she has her stuff together; she always knows the latest tech tools, understands the instructional environment, and has an approach that prevents you from feeling ham-handed with your online instructional efforts. A++" - Mr. Beneigh (teacher)
